Warehouse Gym & Fitness has a large Olympic lifting community that continues to grow by the day. As more and more people discover this unique sport, we find more members of the local community enjoying it. Using it as a way to keep fit or train competitively, everyone is welcome at WGF. What Is Olympic Lifting?
WGF Olympic lifting is a form of weightlifting that involves athletes lifting a barbell loaded with weights above their heads. There are two types of Olympic lifting, with their own forms of movement:
The Clean And Jerk
A combination lift. This involves the barbell initially being brought to the shoulders in one motion, followed by the jerk motion from the shoulders to above the head

The Snatch
A wide grip lift where the barbell is hoisted over the head in one swift movement.

WGF’s Weightlifting Program
Warehouse Gym & Fitness provides Olympic weightlifting programs for beginners and intermediate lifters. Focusing on fundamental elements of the snatch and the clean & jerk, the sessions run through basic elements, such as:
- Olympic lifting Warm-ups
- Mobility training (hips and shoulders)
- Dynamic empty bar work
- Overhead position (snatch)
- Foot positioning in initial set up
- First pull
- Second pull
- Bottom position
- Split Jerk (Clean and jerk)
- Personalised cues based on identified areas of improvement for each lifter
